1. These are the rules for candidates desiring to undertake research work leading to PhD degree of any University in any subject areas. They can register and perform their research work at the I²IT campus.
2. All academic and other norms of the external Universities will be applicable to all candidates registering at I²IT. If a candidate fails to follow norms specified by the University, he/she will be liable for actions as per University norms.
3. In addition to the norms of the external University, the candidates will also have to follow the norms of the I²IT. If a candidate fails to follow the same, he/she will be liable for actions as per I²IT norms.
4. Total fee (excluding hostel and food) to be paid by each candidate (till the submission of thesis) is split in to two parts as follows:

• The fee of Rs. 12000/- per year (For internal candidates, Rs. 6000/- per year) is to be paid to the I²IT. This fee includes Tuition, Laboratory, Library, and other fees.
• The external University Fee is to be paid directly to the University every year as per the University norms.

5. In case a candidate wishes to avail the residential and cafeteria facilities of the Institute, he/she has to pay for it additionally as per the Institute norms.
6. Failure to pay the fees (for both the external University as well as the I²IT) as per schedule given
   to each candidate, he/she will be liable for action as per the norms of both institutions.
7. Remuneration to be given to the external experts invited for the presentation/evaluation of
   candidates will be Rs. 1000/- per person (inclusive of travel costs) for local experts. For
   outstation experts, travel reimbursement as per the institute norms.
8. In case the chosen research guide/supervisor wishes to leave the Institute, same guide can be
   continued for the supervision of the candidates already registered under him/her, provided the
   student, the guide and the concerned school/university agrees. Otherwise, as per the University
   norms, new supervisor will be designated.
9. External students/direct students enrolling for the same will be treated as 'Research Students'.
   They have to pay Rs.5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand) as Library caution money. Students will be
   given two library issue cards. Students will be also issued the RFID ID Card. Sitting space will
   be provided, if required, for the research students in a lab/school or at an appropriate place on
   I²IT campus.
10. All relevant I²IT rules will be applicable to the research students during the official engagement
    period.
11. The Intellectual Property (IP) evolving out of the research work will be of joint ownership. For
    any dispute in this regard, I²IT will have the authority to decide the ownership.
12.  I²IT reserves the right to modify and update these norms as and when required.
