There could not have been a more appropriate name for the Toastmasters International club of I2IT, the first Toastmasters club in Pune. Genesis means the beginning and our club provides people with a platform from where one can begin his journey towards improving himself in many ways. Genesis helps people to improve their communication, leadership and managerial skills by providing them with many opportunities to exercise each of these skills and more.
"Genesis" Toastmasters International, the Toastmasters club of I2IT, which has been in existence since April 2005, has seen some wonderful achievements this last season. The motto of the club is "Making Effective Communication a Worldwide Reality" and the club stands by it. Small wonder then, that it received the "Founders Award" from TMI, USA for having set up and sponsored the Infosys & the IBM Toastmasters Club.
In another significant achievement, the club also received a record number of memberships from employees of companies such as Tibco, Symantec, Satyam and others. Genesis has conducted meetings in Infosys, IBM, Patni and KPIT, and the club looks forward to continue this tradition in the coming seasons too.
All the members develop public speaking and extempore speaking skills. The members are responsible for conducting the meetings and maintaning the decorum during the meetings, and this teaches them management principles in a practical and interesting manner. Genesis stands committed by its motto and for spreading the message of communication skills being more than just 'speaking'. It stands for being able to express ones ideas, feelings and thoughts in as effective a manner as possible. As Robert Forst once said, "And miles to go before I sleep And miles to go before I sleep" The same holds true for the Genesis Toastmasters club too. There is still lots to be done and many more exiting seasons still beckon it.
