Message from Vice Chancellor of IGNOU

Prof. V. N. Rajasekharan PillaiDear Aspiring Students,

Greetings from the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

As you know IGNOU has been constituted as a Central University under the Act No. 50 of 1985 of the Parliament of India in the year 1985 and is now celebrating its silver jubilee with a glorious global stature as the world's largest university with over 3 million students on rolls in its 21 Schools of Studies, different centres and units.

In this Silver Jubilee year I am pleased to announce the launch of a Center of Excellence for Advance Education & Research in collaboration with I2IT at Pune.

I was present, when I2IT was dedicated to the nation at the hands of Bharat Ratna Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the then President of India on 28th May 2003.

I have watched the development of I2IT and its emergence as a new generation Institute offering Postgraduate programs in emerging area of IT, Engineering and Technology, Science & Management.

Through theI2IT- IGNOU collaboration, students aspiring to study at I2IT, now will be able to earn globally recognized MTech, MS and MBA degrees through its full-time face-to-face 24 months academic programmes and even pursue research programmes leading to Ph.D Degrees.

To ensure higher academic and research standard, we have set up a Joint Coordination Committee, which will be chaired by me with members from IGNOU, I2IT and eminent experts from industry and national research laboratories.

I am sure that IGNOU-I2IT Centre of Excellence for Advance Education & Research will create a global platform for advanced education and research in the emerging areas of IT, Engineering and Technology, Science and Management.

I wish you all success in your academic pursuit.
